10 - 14 June, 2019 HONG KONG
The Conference will be held on the campus of The University of Hong Kong, located in the mid-level of Hong Kong Island.

The “International Conferences on Marine Pollution and Ecotoxicology” has over 24 years of history and has been held in 1995, 1998, 2001, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016 in Hong Kong, making this Conference series as a signature event in the international arena of marine pollution research. Building on this success, ICMPE-9 will be held during 10-14 June 2019 at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). It will be jointly organized by the Swire Institute of Marine Science and School of Biological Sciences, HKU and the State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution (City University of Hong Kong).

The ICMPE-9 Conference aims to provide a forum for experts all over the world to meet and discuss their frontier research, and the latest scientific and technological advancements in relation to marine pollution and ecotoxicology. ICMPE-9 also aims to advance the participants' understanding of local, regional and global marine pollution problems and jointly explore their solutions, hoping that such problems can be more easily solved in the future.

SCIENTIFIC THEMES

The Conference will primarily focus on the following key areas:

  1. Legacy pollution issues (e.g. organic, metal and biocides’ pollution);

  2. Environmental fate, ecotoxicity and ecological risk of emerging chemical contaminants of concern (e.g. perfluorinated compounds, new generations of frame retardants, endocrine disrupting chemicals, pharmaceuticals and personal care products, engineered nanomaterials);

  3. Biological responses to chemical mixtures and/or multiple stressors (e.g. thermal stress, salinity stress, biological invasion);

  4. Environmental fate, ecotoxicity and ecological risk of macro-, micro- and nano-plastics pollutants;

  5. Omics and Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOPs);

  6. Coastal eutrophication, hypoxia, harmful algae blooms and algal toxins;

  7. Marine ecosystem responses to climate changes (e.g., global warming, ocean acidification, sea level rise);

  8. Advanced pollution monitoring and control technology;

  9. Integrated environmental assessment and management, and

  10. Research collaboration in marine environmental research in the Greater Bay Area of China
